Brookton History
The Brookton area of the Wheat Belt was first settled in 1846 by John Seabrook and was founded in 1884. The name was originally Seabrook. The Aboriginal name was Kalkarni.

The Bedford Hotel was built in 1903 when the land site was traded for a Table Top Wagon by Mr JL Cummins It was the first Hotel in the township and much of the building still appears today as it did then.
